Weird weather

My professor sent the class a link about the unusually cold weather in Italy right now. I have a classmate that is currently living in Sardinia and she was telling me how strange it was there. Even the canals in Venice got icy and the lagoon froze for the first time in 20 years!

It kind of reminds me of Christmas 2004 when it snowed in the Rio Grande Valley (where I live). It was the first real snow since 1895 from what I have read. My grandmother was in her late 70s and had never seen it snow here.
